Monday reflection: Leading through the fog

  There are times in everyone's leadership journey where the path ahead is clear,  targets are well defined, momentum is strong, and decisions feel straightforward. And then everything changes. The fog can arrive quietly. A changing economy, weaker markets and customer orders. Political uncertainty. Personal doubt. You can’t see the whole road anymore, only the next few steps ahead.  For many leaders, this is uncomfortable territory because leadership often comes with the pressure to always appear certain and surefooted. But leadership is rarely about having perfect visibility of the way forward, the future. It’s about continuing to move with clarity of purpose knowing the goals you want to achieve and even when clarity of outcome is missing. Leading through the fog requires a different kind of confidence, not confidence that everything will work out exactly as planned, but confidence that you can navigate uncertainty without losing direction.
