Monday Reflection: Leading with Courage in Times of Disruption

Disruption can come in many forms, a sudden market shift, emerging technologies, global crises, or even internal upheaval in the business you work in or your family life. And while disruption can trigger concern, uncertainty, resistance even fear … it also presents opportunities for leaders who seize the moment and act with courage. Courage isn’t about not being concerned or fearful, it’s about moving forward on your own or with others despite it.  So what does courageous leadership look like when everything around you feels uncertain, different? First, it means embracing transparency. Faced with uncertainty, feeling processes and structures are brittle, then silence and a lack of connection creates anxiety. Courageous leaders speak up and fill the void. They explain what they know, what they don’t know, and what they’re doing to solve the problems.  Second, it means making tough decisions which are anchored in personal and business values. During disruption, the easy reactio...

Monday reflection: Finding clarity in quiet moments

In leadership, noise is constant, everyone's opinions, their calls for urgency, and expectations all compete for your attention. As I have said in previous blog posts it is easy to mistake activity for action, and to forget that clarity emerges from intentional quiet moments.  Creating space to think, whether stepping away from meetings, pausing before decisions, or simply disconnecting from digital noise for a while allows leaders to take stock. In those quiet moments, assumptions, biases become clear, ideas emerge, patterns become visible, priorities can be determined. In those quiet moments, decisions feel less reactive and more aligned with purpose and delivery.   Strong leaders don’t just filter the noise and focus on what is most important, they learn to question their own thinking, their own worldviews. Clarity isn’t about having all the answers, its about recognising the landscape and finding a pathway through it. In a world that rewards activity, speed an...

Your Leadership Journey Continues

Congratulations on completing this 30-day leadership micro-reflection journey.  Take a moment to truly acknowledge what you’ve accomplished. Over the past month, you’ve paused, reflected, questioned, and grown. You’ve paid attention to your actions, your decisions, your communication, your values, and the way you show up for others. That is the heart of leadership. Not perfection. Not control. But awareness, intention, and continual growth, personally and professionally.   Every insight you’ve gained is a stepping stone toward the leader you are becoming. You’ve built the habit of reflection, one of the most powerful tools any leader can cultivate. And this practice doesn’t need to end here. You can repeat the calendar, expand it, or carry your favourite prompts into your daily routine. What matters most is that you continue to lead with clarity, courage, and purpose. Leadership isn’t a destination, it’s a lifelong journey. And over the last 30 days, you’ve taken a mea...

Welcome to Your 30-Day Leadership Journey

Welcome to your 30-day leadership micro-reflection journey.
The next 30 days are not about you becoming a perfect leader, they are about becoming a more aware, intentional, and grounded one. Leadership isn’t shaped in big moments. It grows through the small choices you make every day: the conversation you slow down for and truly listen, the decision you pause to reflect on, an emotion you choose to acknowledge rather than ignore.   This programme offers you one powerful prompt each day to help you pause, look inward, and notice how you are showing up as a leader. You don’t need hours of journalling.
You don’t need to get it right every day.
You simply need to show up with honesty and curiosity. Some prompts will feel easy. Others may feel challenging. All are designed to help you strengthen the core skills of leadership, self-awareness, communication, courage, integrity, and the ability to show up, support and uplift others. By committing to this 30-day programme, yo...

Monday reflection: Coaching Leadership - unlocking potential through inquiry

Moving from directed leadership to enabling leadership requires leaders to develop strong coaching skills. Coaching encourages team members to reflect more deeply and become more reflexive. It supports them to think with greater clarity, act with more confidence, and intentionally grow their skills and capabilities.   At its heart, coaching leadership rests on a simple truth: leaders don’t have all the answers. They can’t solve every problem or address every concern. Instead, their role is to create the conditions for others to discover their own answers. Inquiry is central to this approach. Rather than directing or “telling,” coaching leaders ask thoughtful questions that spark reflection and insight. Effective questioning techniques help people examine their assumptions, explore new possibilities, and build the confidence to articulate what they truly need or envision. This shift, from telling to asking, builds ownership, capability, and confidence across the team.   Co...

Monday reflection: Grounded leadership

Being grounded means staying focused on what really matters even when everything around you feels chaotic, confused and noisy. It involves cultivating self-awareness, being present for yourself and others, and building the foundations, both in your leadership and in the practices around you, that create clarity.    Grounded leaders are anchored by their principles, purpose, and boundaries, which makes setting priorities and addressing challenges far easier. In a world that pulls your attention and your team's attention in every direction, being grounded is an act of strength. It’s a continual practice, a deliberate choice to return to a place of stability where you can respond rather than react, act with intention not impulse, and reflect rather than rush to judgment. Grounded leaders can adapt to change without losing their footing. They communicate with clarity, establish thoughtful priorities, and model resilience through their behaviour. When leaders are centred, teams fee...

Monday reflection: Authentic leadership

So, what does authentic leadership really mean?  When we think about being authentic, words like genuine, sincere, and honest come to mind, honest with ourselves and with those we lead. Leadership isn’t about reading from a script or putting on a performance. It’s about leading from your values, your character, and your integrity. It’s about showing up as you.  Why do we need authentic leaders?  Because people can spot insincerity a mile away. We don’t trust those who pretend or perform, we trust those who are real. As leaders, we all want to be trusted. That trust begins when we’re authentic. Being authentic means being self-aware, understanding our strengths, our blind spots, and how our actions affect others. It means being clear about our values and consistent in how we make decisions. It means being open, honest, and transparent, even when it’s uncomfortable.  Now, think about a leader who has inspired you. What made them feel real? What made you trust them?...

Monday reflection: Servant leadership

When we think of strong leaders, we often picture in our minds’ certain characteristics such as assertiveness, ruthlessness, decisiveness, confidence, and charisma. But the strength of servant leadership comes from a completely different direction.  Servant leaders lead from the perspective that the organisational strategy is ‘not just about me.’ Servant leaders do not want to be flying solo as leaders that want to promote ‘us not me,’ they want to enable others to share aspects of leadership, roles within leadership. They want to promote working environments driven by collaborative leadership.  Their strengths are in supporting, facilitating, mentoring, coaching, and promoting to deliver excellence through others stepping up to give of their best. Their strengths lie in strategic and creative thinking, in listening and encouraging, in empathy and humility, and their thinking and strategic approach can lead to significant and long lasting transformation in any organisa...
